Every image online is made of waves.
Take a portion of any image, an 8×8 grid of pixels.
Look at the difference in brightness between each pixel.
By combining a series of waves from a possible 64, from something called a quantization table you can replicate any variation of lumination found in any of the possible 8×8 grids.
While you do this you can remove unessential information from these grids.
This will make the image smaller.
This method allowed images to become ubiquitous on the internet.
Anything that can be described as a wave can be approximated by a series of sin waves.
